Review status update (from a 3 star to a 5 star)... I have since returned to AAMCO in November 2024 for a transmission replacement for a 2013 Toyota 4Runner; Richard and the team provided excellent customer service and updates throughout the entire process. The AAMCO team also had the vehicle ready for pick-up 1 day in advance. Richard and the technician(s) far exceeded our expectation and earned our future business - many thanks! I recently had general repairs completed on my 2010 Nissan Versa. Here is the reason for the three star rating; The vehicle diagnostics/assessment was inconsistent. 1) typically during the initial assessment, a computer diagnostics is performed to determine the fault codes for the "check engine soon" light. When I inquired for the information, I learned that this had not been performed and had to receive a follow call with the information. 2) The initial reason provided for the "thunk" sound coming from the L/F suspension was that the wheel hub bearings needed to be replaced, I later received a follow up call with the reason being 3 of 4 lug nuts were loose on the L/F rim hub. 3) I was informed that during the valve cover gasket repair, it was noticed that the spark plugs and PCV valve/hose needed to be replaced and it was recommended to replace them while these components were accessible and that a new estimate was being sent... I waited ~35min for the new estimate, then called for a status.. I was told the new estimate had been sent and approved... this was not the case - I wonder how this got approved without the estimate being sent for my review and approval. 4) Upon completion of the repairs, I was told the suspension alignment could not be performed due to a staff member called out and that I can have this service performed else where. The positives. 1) the sale rep was helpful and responded promptly. 2) The honesty, to receive a follow up call to rectify the misdiagnoses related to the "thunk" sounds. 3) The repairs completion time was quicker than I expected.
This is the trustworthy mechanic you’ve been looking for. Fair pricing, straight shooting, and clear communication throughout the process, and a friendly group of folks on top of that. I do most of my vehicle maintenance myself at home, but this shop will be my go to for any big issues moving forward.
